The Bresslers Summit Mount Washington

Labor Day Weekend has come and gone and while not the official end of summer, it is certainly starting to feel like Fall here in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Temperatures are getting cooler, and the days are getting shorter. The leaves started turning.

The weather here in the White Mountains is unpredictable, to say the least. The local saying is “if you don’t like the weather now, just wait a few minutes and it will be different.”

A White Mountain icon, Mount Washington, is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States at 6,288.2 feet and has some of the most extreme weather in the world. On April 12, 1934, the Mount Washington Observatory recorded the world’s fastest surface wind speed ever observed by man: 231 mph. Wow! Luckily, we were able to experience the summit in all its glory on a relatively calm day a few weeks ago by traveling up the mountain via the cog railway. You can also reach the summit by hiking one of several trails or driving up the Auto Road. If you are ever in the White Mountain NH area, we highly recommend you find your way to the top of Mount Washington! Till then, enjoy the pictures. 😊
