Recipes you can bake over, or even inside, your campfire.

Happy World Baking Day!
While most of our RVs include a built-in oven or conventional oven, it is still always fun to cook over the campfire. How about baking over the campfire? To celebrate World Baking Day, here are just a few great treats you can bake over, and sometimes even inside, your campfire. ?
Dutch Oven Cinnamon Buns
Who said baking had to be hard? Whether you make your own cinnamon buns from scratch or use Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls, this sweet treat never fails.
Simply grease your dutch oven, line your cinnamon rolls inside, put the lid on your dutch oven, and set it inside your campfire. Bake them for around 25 minutes in the hot coals. Once they are done, coat them with their frosting, and enjoy!
Orange Blueberry Muffins
Oranges and blueberries never went together better! Who needs a muffin tin when you have an orange peel? For these fun and delicious muffins, start by cutting three large oranges in half and scooping out the flesh of the fruit. You can save this for snacking! You can either chose to use your own blueberry muffin recipe or you can opt for a boxed mix. Once your muffin mixture is combined, pour it into the orange peel cups until it fills up halfway. Next, wrap each loosely with aluminum foil and place upright into the hot coals of your campfire. Cook for around ten minutes. Use tongs to remove them from the coals. After allowing the muffins to cool, remove the foil, top with a coating of butter, and dig in!
Fruit Cobbler
What dessert is more refreshing than a freshly baked fruit cobbler! Use fruit that is in season to achieve the best flavors and be more connected to the season.
To make the filling, simply mix one pound of any fruit of your choice (our favorites to use are peaches, strawberries, and blueberries) with 1/4 cup of sugar and one tablespoon of flour. For the biscuits you can make your own at the campsite, pre-make your own and freeze them until you are ready to use them, or use pre-made biscuits such as Pillsbury Biscuits. When you are ready to bake your cobbler, add your filling to a dutch over. Place your biscuits on top of your filling. Brush your biscuits with butter and top with a sprinkle of brown sugar. With the lid on your dutch oven, place your dutch oven directly into the coals of your campfire. Cover the lid with the coals, and allow to back for 45 minutes or until the top of your biscuits are golden. Cobbler is best served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!
Snobrød (Danish Bonfire Bread aka Twisted Bread)
Snobrød, twisted bread in Danish, is an easy treat on a stick!
To make a batch of dough, simply knead together one and 1/4 cup of water, 1 ounce of dry active yeast, two teaspoons of sugar, two teaspoons of salt, and one pound of flour. Allow the bread to rise for 30 minutes. Now, this is the fun part! Tear off pieces of the dough and roll them into thin snake shaped lines. Wrap them around your roasting stick and get roasting! For the best results, hold the dough over hot embers rather than the flame of the campfire.
Funnel Cake
Funnel cake isn’t just for the fair. Bring a bit of the carnival with you wherever you camp!
To make this yummy treat, start by filling your dutch oven with one 1/2 inches of oil. Heat the oil over your campfire. While your oil heats up, combine either your own or a pre-made box mix of pancake mix. Pour your pancake batter into a plastic baggie. When your oil is simmering, cut a 1/2 inch hole in the corner of the baggie. Swirl the batter into the hot oil. Fry the the batter in the oil until the batter turns a golden hue, and flip it every two minutes. Once your funnel cake is done, remove it from the oil and remove the excess oil with a paper towel once it has cooled. Sprinkle your funnel cake with powdered sugar, and enjoy!
